STRAITS OF MAGELLAN

I hiked in Grand Torres National Park in Southern Chile, another story. Before going there my Sierra Club Group ,all 12 of us, were taken on a dinghy trip into the Straits of Magellan. The waves engulfed our "vessel" as if we were traveling thru tunnels. The first stop was an island that had burrowing penguins. Dirty birds but could swim like rockets. Their chicks were in the burrows and thousands nested on the tiny island. We approached another island and two miles away it smelled like a bathroom at  Fenway Park. Walruses- 100s of them on that beach, and we were in their urinal. On a cliff above were more penguins. I asked the guide  what they were doing up there. He said : "Walruses eat penguins. Penguins know that." and laughed .
